The Voice Of The Serpent

Satan is the great deceiver.  His deceptions can come in many forms.  He may twist words and tell half-truths as he did when he deceived Eve in the garden, or he may omit essential Truth as he did when he tempted Christ.  Whatever the form, you must understand that when you hear someone who is intentionally deceiving you, you are hearing the voice of Satan.  This applies to me, it applies to our leaders, our pastors: it applies to everyone — even the Apostle, Peter (Mat 16:23). The only protection we have from being deceived is to know, believe in and cling to the Word of God and to the Gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ.  So, please, I beg you, understand that I am not writing to attack the man, but to warn you against the voice of Satan which is coming from his mouth.  I write now to warn you against the deceptions he told today, and so that you will not be deceived in the same ways he has been.

Yet again, and with great sadness of heart, I am writing in response to Glenn Beck.  He is deceiving his audience on many levels, and I do not want any of you who listen to him and who read this blog to be deceived by him.  I do not write to those who are lost.  I have come to understand that I have not been called to win souls to Christ.  My calling is to teach: to edify and strengthen the Body of Christ and to equip them to go out on the Spiritual battlefield.  So I write to those of you who already believe.  Still, though I should not have to say this, I want you to know and understand that I do not hate Beck.  I have a great love for the man.  I also believe he is sincere in his beliefs.  It is just that he has been deceived and he is teaching his audience from the false understandings he has gained because of that deception.  I do not want this to happen to you.  You must understand that Beck talks about and even quotes Scripture, but so does Satan.  I want you to know how to tell the difference.

First, you need to understand why it is important to know the Word of God.  If you do not know God’s Word or Christ’s Gospel, you might well believe the Muslim lies when they tell you they believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and that they even believe Jesus is the Messiah.  If you do not know Scripture, you will not know why they believe in a different god, and a different Jesus (Isa).  The same applies to Mormons.  They — like the Muslims — believe that the Bible in which Jews and Christians believe is not the true Word of God.  They believe the Bible of the Jews and Christians was corrupted, and that it has been set straight by an angel who gave the corrections to the founding prophet of their religion.  For the Muslims, it was Gabriel who gave the corrections to Muhammad.  For the Mormons, it was Moroni who gave it to Smith.  In both cases, they changed the Gospel and the nature of Jesus and, in so doing, they created new gods.  If this is what they wish to do, then that is their choice.  But they cannot then claim they worship the same God as the Jews and Christians.  The Truth is they do not worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  They do not believe in the Jesus of the Bible or His Gospel.  They worship a god of their own creation.  This means, when Muslims tell you they worship the God of the Bible and Mormons claim they are Christians, they are deceiving you.  It also means they are to be accursed:

Galatians 1:8-9  New American Standard Bible (NASB)

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel [a]contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be [b]accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel [c]contrary to what you received, he is to be [d]accursed!

If Beck believed in the Bible, that passage should be all he needs to realize that he is following a false religion and a false god.  But Beck is a Mormon, and Mormons — like Muslims — pick and choose what Scriptures they accept.  Sadly, many who call themselves ‘Christian’ do this.  My dear brother or sister in Christ: You must never do this!  When we pick and chose what we will accept from God’s Word, we become the ‘man of lawlessness’ Paul describes in 2 Thessalonians 2.  We place ourselves on God’s throne and say in our hearts that we are gods.  After all, the only way you can change or nullify any part of God’s word is if you are God.  So, if we ignore or try to change God’s Word, we are — in our hearts — claiming to be gods.  This is exactly what Muslims and Mormons have done.

Now, in Beck’s case, he is correct when he urges people to turn to God, to be peaceful, and not to hate but to love each other.  The problem with this message is two-fold.  First, he does not explain what the Bible means by ‘love.’  Scripture is not talking about love as our society understands it.  When Christ told us to love each other, He was telling us to have an agape or God-like love for each other, and that type of love does not accept wrong-doing (i.e. sin).  Part of having a God-like love for each other means we correct each other — especially when we see our brother or sister doing something that God’s Word says will lead them into destruction.  This is why I write: to warn others against false teachings.  This is where Beck’s hypocrisy comes through.  On several occasions, he has spent large blocks of time on his radio show calling me and anyone else who tries to warn others about his false faith/teachings a hater.  How can Beck tell us not to accuse each other on one hand, then call me a hater on the other?  This is one way we know he is speaking with the voice of Satan.  He is speaking a message of peace and love, but those who actually follow his version of what this means risk ‘loving’ themselves and others into destruction.  Now, is it a God-like love when we stay silent and allow others to walk toward their own ruin simply so we can keep the peace between us?  Scripture says no!

Luke 12:49  New American Standard Bible (NASB)

49 “I [a]have come to cast fire upon the earth; and [b]how I wish it were already kindled!

Matthew 10:34-36  New American Standard Bible (NASB)

34 “Do not think that I came to [a]bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.

Now, here is where Beck goes very, very wrong.  Beck started the show today telling his audience that turning back to God is the only way this nation will be saved.  But then he started talking about Gandhi and MLK and the Constitution.  He told his audience that the principles of the Constitution and of Christ’s example were the way we will save America.  He even recounted how Gandhi said Christians had the key in ‘the document‘ of the Bible: the key to changing the world.  All of this sounds good, and it sounds like truth, but all of it misses the Truth.  The power is not found in Gandhi’s example, or MLK’s or even the principles and ideals of the Constitution.  They are powerless.  The power comes from Christ and His name.  Scripture tells us that the Apostles worked miracles, but they invoked the name of Christ.  Scripture also tells us that others who were not disciples (followers and believers in Christ) were able to work miracles in Christ’s name, as well.  So, when Gandhi — who admitted he used Christ’s example — when Gandhi was able to change his society, it was not the principles that changed India, it was the name and example of Jesus Christ.  the same applies to MLK, but MLK had the humility to say so.  The same principle even applies to the U.S. Constitution!

If you listen to Beck, then you will hear him stress the importance of the Constitution.  I am here to tell you that the Constitution is meaningless.  It is just the ‘how’ of America.  The true power is in the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ of this nation, but you never hear Beck talking about that.  The ‘what’ and the ‘why’ of America are in the Mayflower Compact and the Declaration of Independence.  Both of these documents point directly to the God of the Bible!  This is where America got its true power, and why it succeeded.  But Beck is a Mormon, and part of his beliefs is the prophecy that there will be a second American Civil War and that the elders of the Mormon church will ride in on white horses to save the Constitution and the nation.  I suspect Beck also believes he is a prophet (another belief of his faith).  These beliefs motivate and drive a great deal of Beck’s agenda, and once you know about them, you can see their influence in what he tells his audience.  But he never tells anybody about them — why?  Why does he keep what are powerful personal beliefs from his audience?  This is deception, and again, all deception is the voice of the serpent.

I want to close by stressing this point again: I do not hate Beck, I love him.  But I have an agape love for him.  This is why I wish I could help him see how and why he has been deceived.  His religion stresses works as the means to salvation, but Scripture tells us at least 72 times that it is faith and faith alone that will save us.  I want to help Beck see his mistake so that he will not walk blindly into destruction.  But I cannot reach Beck and, if I could, I doubt he would listen.  He has already told me he won’t because he counts me a hater.  So I write to you and pray you will have ears to hear.  Christ and His Gospel are the answer to the problems of this world, but only if you seek the true Son of the One True God, Jesus Christ — the Jesus Christ and Gospel of the Bible.  I pray, if you have not already done so, that you will accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and that you will surrender your life to Him.  If this nation would do this and would actually live according to Christ’s commands, then at least this nation would be healed.  Any other path — ANY OTHER PATH — will lead this nation to ruin.
