The Political Version of Adam’s Excuse to God

When I saw this picture, all I could think about was the excuse Adam gave God for eating the forbidden fruit:

“It’s not my fault; that woman you gave me made me do it.”

my country

We are no different from Adam.  We  all making excuses for our actions.  In fact, we do it so much. we’ve assigned special names to our excuses.  When we refuse to acknowledge our actions, we call it denial.  When we get really elaborate at creating excuses, we call it rationalization.  And when we actually believe our excuses, we call it delusion.  But none of it absolves us of our guilt because none of this changes reality.  The reality is that an excuse is an attempt to shift blame from ourselves to another party.  And, while it may not be apparent at first, that is exactly what this picture is doing: making an excuse for our own hand in the condition of our government.

You see, America is a republic, and in a republic, the ultimate power rests in the People.  This means we cannot escape individual responsibility for the condition of our government.  Either we helped elect the people who created this mess, or we have allowed it to continue.  Do not object and tell me you voted for the right person but they did not keep their word.  That does not absolve you of guilt unless you lead a vigorous campaign to recall that representative.  Have you done that?  I haven’t, so I know I am guilty — and so are you.

Did you vote for the lesser of two evils?  I did, and I am guilty on this count, as well.  But so are you.  Why?  Because we both voted for evil.  You say the other candidate was not electable, or a third Party vote would have helped the really evil person win?  Still guilty.  You do not avoid evil by voting for evil, so if you knew the person you voted for was wrong for the nation and you voted for them anyway — because you believed the other major choice was worse — you still voted for someone you admit was wrong for the country.  That is guilt — period!

How many of you have supported people you knew were corrupt?  I have.  I voted for Republican candidates I knew were corrupt — because I thought the Democrat candidate was worse.  Today, many Republicans are supporting Trump — even though he has told us in plain language he is corrupt.  But the people who are supporting Sanders and Hillary are worse still.  They know Hillary is corrupt to the core, and Sanders is an admitted thief (all socialism is based on taking from a minority to give to a majority, and that is theft and slavery).  So, why do we support people we know to be corrupt?  Because we have chosen Party over country.  Well, when we do that, we are individually responsible for the government we get.  So put your hand in the air — you are just as guilty as I am, and you know it.

That brings me to the real problem.  We are a republic, which means the People are the ultimate power.  So, how can we claim to be proud of our country but not our government when we are the government?  In reality, it is not the government that is corrupt, it is us!  And you do not need to go past the front page to find the proof:

Houston Grand Indicts David Daleiden For Organ Trafficking, Issues No Charges Against Planned Parenthood

I’m sorry, but, if the police did this, they would call it a sting operation and arrest the people who agreed to sell the body parts (and admitted to the practice).  But because a private citizen did it, they are going to make them into a criminal and let the people who actually admitted to breaking the law go free?  And all to protect the right to murder an innocent citizen?  EVIL!  We are all guilty!

Paul introduces bill to give unborn children constitutional rights

I’m sorry, but since when did the Declaration cease to be law in this country?  It declares that it is self-evident that our rights come from God, and that we have them from the moment of creation — not birth!  Well, if we now have to introduce a bill to protect these rights, then we are saying the government — an artificial thing, not even a person — we are saying the government gives us our rights.  That is a violation of the law of this land (i.e. Declaration and Constitution).  Yet we not only allow it, a great many of us fight to defend it.  Evil!  We are all guilty!

What Happens if Hillary Isn’t Indicted?

Why hasn’t this woman been indicted?  For the same reason Obama dismissed the convictions against the Black Panthers soon after he took office — p-o-l-i-t-c-s-!  This destroys the system by undermining the public trust.  That is an attack on the nation.  It is subversion.  It is Evil!  We are all guilty!

Lynch: Congress Gave Obama Right to Dictate Gun Control

Congress has no authority to give the President any legislative powers.  The President has violated the Constitution by making law under the guise of ‘executive order,’ and does so to restrict a Constitutionally protected right, and the Congress does nothing.  In fact, people defend the President’s lawless action.  The man should be impeached, tried, convicted and imprisoned, but instead, he is defended and Congress does nothing to stop this.  Lawlessness, which is evil!  We are all guilty!

Obama Administration: ‘Possible, If Not Likely,’ That Some of the Billions in Iran Sanctions Relief Will Fund Terrorism

This is a public admission of treason, and yet, Congress does nothing and the people defend the President.  Evil!  We are all guilty!

Jameis Winston Accuser Settles with FSU for $950,000, Lawyers Get Most

Either this man is guilty of a crime and should have been prosecuted, and he — himself, personally — held liable for any damages, or he is innocent and the school should defend itself.  To protect Winston for the sake of the school would be wrong, and to give in to a false claim would be equally wrong.  Either way, there is no justification here.  This is evil, and we are all to blame!

FOX Network to air ‘Lucifer’ – portraying Satan as a good guy

This is why we are all to blame: because a show like this is not only produced, but will do well enough to last much longer than it should.  Even if you do not believe in God, this is the glorification of evil.  To ignore such an action is to support evil, itself — because the show is evil.  Even if they had created a new name and said it was a demon, it would still be evil because it seeks to glorify evil — which is what every story I just posted is about: the normalization of evil!  We are all guilty…!

Now, I know most people will read this and get angry with me.  They ‘know’ they are not guilty.  They are ‘good,’ it is others who are at fault.  That’s OK.  I understand.  It took me years to humble myself enough to be able to put my hand in the air and admit I am guilty — because I am.  But anyone who feels the slightest twinge of anger or indignation while reading this post — that is an admission that you know you are just as guilty as I am.  And even if you do not feel that twinge, that’s OK, too.  You just pull an Adam and blame it on someone else.  If it makes it easier to sleep at night, I understand — so long as you understand this:

Blaming someone else will not work when they day of reckoning comes.

We are ALL guilty!

  1. It was hard for me to click on the “like” button because the content of what you have reported is really awful. But I must click on it because you are speaking the truth here. It is very, very sobering to realize and admit that we are all complicit in the evil.

I know Christians who do not watch TV anymore. Can’t blame them! Most of it is evil garbage! Hate the news, too. I still like to occasionally watch the Christian stations and the Hallmark channel – which seems to be the only movie station with some sense of integrity.

I hope you get the chance to read my latest post:
Vivid Examples That Expose Hidden Agendas. It is written with similar content as your post here. Perhaps it could be considered another example of our “excuses to God.”

Further down in the post, you may cheer (like I did) when you read about what an American Airlines pilot wrote in an email. Be sure to go to the link and read it all.

I concluded the post with the fact that only Jesus Christ can save us from ourselves! This becomes more and more evident to me with each passing year, month, week, day, hour, minute, and second!

Thanks for this post, Joe. Needed to be said, written and shared! Reblogging it today!

    In Christ,

    • Christine,

Thanks. Believe me, I did not want to write this post — mostly because I couldn’t write it without looking at my own reflection in my words. But, as I say, if I do not write, the fire within will consume me. Believers will understand. I only wish I could explain it to those who still question and — more so — to those who scoff.

I’ll make it to your blog tonight — promise.

      • It’s true. Believers will understand. The scoffers will continue to scoff but hopefully, there will be seekers among those who are questioning. We know that Christ died on the cross to save all of us from our sins. No one is exempt in this!

Knowing people who think that their “goodness” will get them to heaven (and challenging them on this issue) is a difficult dilemma. We know that people can be capable of doing good things, but if we claim that we are “good” in the Godly sense of the word, then we are guilty of negating Jesus’ own words:

        Mat 19:16

Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good [fn] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

        Mat 19:17

So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? [fn] No one is good but One, that is, God. [fn] But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

        Mat 19:18

He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’

        Mat 19:19

‘Honor your father and your mother,’ [fn] and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” [fn]

        Mat 19:20

The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. [fn] What do I still lack?”

        Mat 19:21

Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

I love how Jesus asks the question, “Why do you call me good?”

He further reveals, “No one is good but One, that is, God.”

Did the hearers recognize Him as God? Jesus challenged them with that question!

I also love how Jesus challenges us all in this portion of Scripture. He pointed out the one thing that he knew that the rich man would not give up in order to be “perfect” and to follow Him.

      • Thank you for coming over to my blog and commenting! Always appreciate your input because I know that you study God’s Word carefully and are able share and discern the truth from the lies!

        • My pleasure. I consider it a blessing to be able to work with another of God’s people to help others find and follow Him and to keep His followers on the narrow path 🙂

  3. There is also hope for some scoffers. Saw this amazing (and brutal!) life-transforming story yesterday.

  4. John would be heartbroken…

In Federalist No. 2, founding father, John Jay observed, “Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people—a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs…”

  5. I think this is appropriate here:

” Once you give people the freedom to do whatever they want, as the Lord found in the Garden of Eden, they will do exactly that ! “
